1. George Washington was the only American president to be unanimously elected. Washington served from 1732 through 1799 and never accepted a presidential salary throughout this time period.

2. President Harry Truman served as the U.S. President from 1884 through 1972. What most people do not know about Truman is he was a member of the KKK. The organization was a powerful political force during this time period, forcing Truman to pay a $10 membership fee, but he later demanded his money back.
